- USDT — a stablecoin tracking the dollar, carried on TRC-20 (cheap and quick) or ERC-20 (pricier whenever Ethereum is busy).
The coin and the network are separate choices, and only one of them can ruin your day. Sending USDT down ERC-20 to an address the cashier generated for TRC-20 usually means the money is gone for good — there is no support ticket that reverses a settled chain transaction. Putting money in

Hold your funds in a wallet whose keys belong to you, switch on two-factor authentication wherever the wallet offers it, and understand that a recovery phrase is the account: anyone who reads it owns the balance, and no legitimate support agent will ever ask for it.
